Teenage Dream

My taste in music has varied and evolved significantly over the years. In my twenties Katy Perry's lyrics really resonated with me and so I wanted to capture both the weird and wonderful aspects of this colourful pop persona.
I drew this back in 2013 after four years of sketching nothing at all. I found it greatly enjoyable to replicate this colourful image from Perry's Teenage Dream Single Artwork, particularly in using artistic licence to over-stylise some of her dramatic features. As is often the case I decided not to include a background for this piece; I was so pleased with the portrait that I didn't want anything to detract from it or ruin the overall work.
Once again I've enlisted PRISMA to play around with the colours and effects. Among my favourites are the pop-art/comic book style images and the blurry primary colours watercolour. The Teenage Dream Artwork shown below is taken from Wikipedia.
