About the Artist

Jamie Lawrence

Hi, I'm Jamie, I'm 33 years old and live in Hinckley in Leicestershire. I've always been a creative individual but this really became evident at school in Art and Design Technology classes. It can be all too easy to assume that an artist's talents are entirely natural but I can assure you that when I began, my work was certainly not the best. I really enjoyed learning different techniques, experimenting with different mediums and finding my own style. My talents particularly tend towards portraits and wildlife, birds in particular. I prefer the control that sketching provides; painting often makes me nervous!

I have a degree in Psychology (BSc) and went on to become a wine expert and Retail Manager; more recently I have worked in buying, business development and marketing. I've always wanted to work in marketing as it plays so well to my artistic inclinations. Like so many I have been left out of work due to the COVID-19 lockdown; the upside of which is that I am pursuing my personal passions, one of which has obviously resulted in this site.

I am also writing a novel, I'm a keen swimmer, HIIT enthusiast, horror film fan and I'm trying to teach myself to play the guitar. Feel free to connect with me if you share any of my passions and interests.
